Confirming FNG plans, discussing new games and tech setup, and preparing for the Term 3 LAN.

Agenda 1: FNG

Curfew

• Tom F: 1 am curfew for Term 3.
• Tom F: When it gets round to Term 1, the end time should be enforced.
  • Raven: Wants to decide about the Term 1 curfew in the summer meetings.
  • Raven: Suggests the curfew should not be firm, but should definitely be sooner and more enforced than the current arrangement.
  • Raven: Wants to avoid staying up until stupid o'clock, as sleep deprivation gets in the way of packing down.

Snack Runs

• Tom F: Who has a car for snack runs?
• Tom F, Maddie, Odin, and Lyon said they are happy to do snack runs.
• Raven: Proposed car conkers to decide the winner.
• Raven: Suggests Skiros as a potential last resort.
• Provisional decision is Lyon ("if it ain't broke, don't fix it", etc.).

Setup

• Tom F: Asked whether everyone was clear on setup.
  • Mainly targeted at Maddie.
  • Maddie: Yep, Lyon showed me through it at the end of last term.

  • Odin: Pointed out that ████ ██ █████████████████ █████.
  • Raven: Yes, but it ██████████ ████████████ ██ █████████ ████ so █████████ can be ██████ ███.
  • Raven: "Lots of ████████ ███████████."
• Raven: Asked about G2A and CDKeys, whether they are reliable markets, and whether they have been used before.
• Laina (via Discord): G2A / CDKeys / etc. are reliable; there is a big hub website for best key deals. Just know it is kind of ████████, as it is technically ██ ████████ ███ █████ ████████, ███ ██████ █████ █ ████.

Network / Lab PCs

• Luna: Asked about the network that the servers and LAN PCs are on.
• Raven: Skiros has suggested moving onto a separate VLAN for better communication with the servers.
• Luna: Suggested using Atrium PCs to game on, as they can maintain a permanent library.
• Odin: Asked about removable media on lab PCs.
• Raven: Said that this is less of a DCS config issue and more of a driver issue.
• Raven: Suggested asking ██████ rather than ██████, ██ ██ █████ ██ ████ ████ ██████ ██ ██████ ██.
• Raven: Unsure whether DCS or IDG are trying to mandate the VLAN change.
• Raven: Said this is more of a tech job, but maybe docs could be written for people who want to bring their own game.
• Raven: Will fix the DCS FNG client ASAP, provided they do not pass out this afternoon.

Agenda 3: Term 3 LAN

• Weekend of Week 9.
• Recurring booking throughout Week 10.
• Raven: Will get in contact with the Exams Office and Estates.
  • Earlier than last year, to be proactive with timing.
  • Does, however, have the direct contacts this time round.
• Raven: Hesitant to do a LAN brainstorming session until the new exec have settled into role.
• Halfway through Term 3, hold a LAN-targeted meeting.
  • Figure out any society collabs etc.
• Raven: All is going to plan according to LAN, albeit 1% of the plan.
  • Filled out a draft on events websites; at least it exists.

Closing Words

• General feeling that FNG is more or less existing in its current state.
• The meeting closed by asking whether, other than conversations about end time, there was anything else people wanted to bring up.
• Tom F: Apart from hard end time, no.
• Maddie: "Don't think so."
• Raven: Hopes for something similar to last year: if anyone has ideas about directions they want to take FNG in, just do it.
  • Raven: Don't be intimidated by me being an old fart; we all got elected into this role together.

• Laina: Follow up with Coventry University gaming in a month about potentially inviting them to FNG.
• Raven: Get in contact with the Exams Office and Estates about the Term 3 LAN.
